OOTD: 2/19/13

Sweater: Forever 21, sz. small
Pants: J Crew Wool Cafe Capri, sz. 2 Tall
Belt: J Crew
Shoes: Bloch
Bag: LV Evora

I feel like and Easter egg here. A spotted, pastel lavender Easter egg. But, I'm smiling in the photos, so apparently spotty Easter eggs make me happy.

These J Crew cafe capris have been lingering in the sale section for what seems like forever! I felt so sad for them. Not surprising, though. They came out during the winter season, and pastel lavender doesn't really scream 'Seasons Greetings' if you ask me. What's up with J Crew's wonky color scheme lately anyway? It seems like they have their seasons all mixed up.

Anyway, I'm a player of the Long Game (you know--buy it on post-season clearance now to save and wear later), and I could foresee winter clearance lavender crops working perfectly for the spring.  Plus, I've discovered a secret with J Crew's crops. Order them in Tall! The cafe carpi fit was always a little weird on me (weird rise, gaping waistband) but fit issue seems to fix itself when I order in Tall. I think the rise on Tall sizes is slightly higher than on the regular lengths, and I really like that higher rise on the cafe capri. It hits me at a more flattering spot on my waist, and it fixes the gaping waistband too.

It doesn't hurt that it gives me a few more inches in the inseam length too. Did I also mention that in the sale section there are usually more colors/sizes available in Tall? Double-triple bonus!

  1. I am tall like you and I do like that the cafe capris come Tall, and you're right there are always more color choices left in the tall sizes! I always order a 6 Tall and have found them to run really big on me...so much so that by the end of the day they barely stay up! So frustrating. I guess an option would be for me to order a 4...but then I fear looking like I have a badonka donk if the butt is too tight. So what I'm saying is while I do like the wool cafe capris, and own them in several colors, I find them to be a little ill-fitting...unfortunately!

    1. I think the cafe capris are an odd cut all around though. My "normal" size always seems more loose than other pants of the same size. Don't know why....J Crew should really re-vamp the whole fit on that pant.

  2. I'm only 5 foot 4" tall, but I still order everything in tall. I find that tall fits the rest of my body better. Hemming pants is a piece of cake, so I just do it.
    Very cute outfit!!

    1. Maybe you have a tall bottom half! I know many ladies that need petite on just the top or just the bottom, so I'll be it would be true for tall too. I think in most retailers "tall" lengths aren't just a longer inseam, but a higher rise and longer proportion through the waist, which can really help, I think.
