After our stop at the Grand Canyon our plan was to start the long trek back to Texas. We didn't have any other major stops planned along the way, but Husband and I agreed that if we came across anything that looked interesting, we'd stop (as long as it didn't eat up too much of our daylight driving hours).

So as we headed back through Arizona, I noticed several signs for the Painted Desert and Petrified Forest National Park. I really wanted to stop and see it, and despite Child still being  under the weather and listless  from altitude sickness, we agreed to at least drive into the park a ways so we could see a little of it. (Child stayed in the car and just looked out the window when he woke from his on and off naps.)

Even though all we did was just drive to a few of the look-out points to snap a few pictures, the stop was very worth it, if you ask me. All the rock formations had a reddish tint to them and Child said it was like looking at the landscape of Mars. It was a great stop on the way out of the state.

Arizona definitely left a very positive impression on me, and I hope we get to go back in the future (hopefully when it's a bit warmer!)

    1. What a great idea! Az was by far the most scenic state we drove thru--biking it would be so fun!

I'd love to hear your thoughts! That said, please remember to be kind, and don't say anything your mother would not approve of!
