Winter Vacation Day 7: 1/3/13 -Route 66

Sweater: Uniqlo Cashmere Turtleneck, sz. small
Pants: random Ponte Knit Leggings from TJ Maxx
Boots: Frye Melissa Button
Bag: LV Evora
(not shown) Eddie Bauer Down Jacket, sz. XS

While we were in Laughlin, we took a short trip to nearby Oatman, AZ to see part of historic Route 66. (Btw, what a confusing area to live in! The Mountain/Pacific time change kept messing me up as we crossed back and forth from Arizona to Nevada.) Anyway, Oatman is one of the small towns that has tried to preserve it's "historic appearance" for tourists. The whole town is only about 15 buildings long, nestled in the hills. Very quaint. The let burros roam the streets, and there are shops that line the streets with all sorts of curios and Route 66 souvenirs in them.

Of course, feeding the donkeys was Child's favorite part!  I don't blame him. They were darling, and very, very friendly.

  1. Great trip! Love your pictures. I'd like to ask you a question if you don't mind. We moving to Texas soon and we choosing between San Antonio and Austin. In your opinion, what place is better to live and raise kids? Thank you

    1. Sorry for not getting back to you sooner--busy, busy first week of classes!
Gosh choosing between those two cities is tough! Quite honestly you can't go wrong with that whole area between San Antonio and Austin. Anywhere in between would be good--personally, I like San Marcos (it doesn't hurt that they've got some massive, Texas-sized outlets there). But I think if I had to pick, it would be San Antonio. It's big, it's modern, it's got everything. It's right near the Hill Country which is beautiful too. Austin does too, but with the capitol you get a lot of poltic-y stuff that I'm not a fan of. Either way, you're probably picking from the best two cities Texas has to offer.
