Winter Vacation Day 11: 1/7/13

Sweater: Uniqlo Cashmere V-neck, sz. small
Top: J Crew Perfect Shirt, sz. 2
Jeans: American Eagle Skinny, sz. 4
Boots: J Crew
Bag: LV Evora

Ok, I was still not feeling anywhere close to better or normal, but I said to myself, "Screw it. Sickness is not going to prevent me from doing some shopping while in Las Vegas. I'll stick a bottle of Dayquil and a box of Kleenex in my bag and go." And that's just what I did.

Though my Mother and I have nowhere close to the same taste in clothing, we can manage to shop together and still have a pleasant time. So I wanted to take her to the Town Square shopping center (which is a very nice outdoor shopping area) and the nicer of the two outlets that Las Vegas has. I wasn't coincidence that there was a J Crew at both. {Though not for long. They had signs up all over in the retail store at Town Square saying they were closing at the end of January. WTH? Can Vegas seriously not support a J Crew? I'm all sorts of mad about it, because it was one of the only retail locations I ever got a chance to shop at. Very bitter.}

Though come to think of it maybe J Crew really is struggling in Vegas, because out of both a reatil location and an outlet, with 50% off sale promos going, all I bought was a striped merino turtleneck (retail), a plaid button-down and a necklace (outlet). That's sad because I had some saved up money I really wanted to burn at J Crew. I ended up spending it at the Loft, Brooks Brothers, and H&M instead.

Speaking of Brooks Brothers, when I took my mother in the store she fell in love. She kept walking around touching things and feeling fabrics and saying, "everything is just so nice here! It's all too expensive and I could never afford it, but it's just so nice! " Aw Mom! Haven't you ever heard of a little thing called clearance?? Apparently I need to give her some lessons in shopping! Brooks Brothers was doing a pretty good after season sale and I was able to snag a really nice pair of navy desert boots for like 70% off. Time was running out I don't think my mom got enough time in the store to find anything, but I can hope she'll try them again.

  1. You look so cute and comfortable! Is that the JC perfect shirt in ivory tartan? The print looks exactly like one that I bought at the end of December. I'd been wanting a plaid button-down but the J.Crew version seemed too pricey; by the time I'd shopped around and finally come back to JC, it went on sale!

    1. Yep! That's the one! I really love the colors on this one, but I will say I either got a wonky one, or the fit is off on this particular color because I have a lot of J Crew perfect shirts, and this one fits super, super tight (hence why I'm only wearing it under a sweater). But I couldn't bring myself to return it because I love the pattern so much!

    2. I think the fit is just off--it's my first perfect shirt, but I easily took a 0 in the blackwatch plaid at the same time in the dressing room and I needed the 2 in this ivory tartan print. The upper arms on the 0 were like a stranglehold, and I'm not particularly broad-shouldered or muscular in the upper body.

  2. This outfit caught my eye! I love the look and I am grateful to have the same plaid shirt (and a Damier speedy) to pull it off! Thanks for sharing!

    1. Thanks TC! THe colors of the shirt make it so easy to pair things with, yes? I wish they'd do a lighter poplin version for summer!

I'd love to hear your thoughts! That said, please remember to be kind, and don't say anything your mother would not approve of!
