OOTD: 3/4/12

Sweater: American Eagle Cashmere(!) Cardi, sz. Med
Tee: J Crew Babydoll Top, sz. XS
Jeans: LOFT Factory Modern Skinny Jeans, sz.2
Shoes: BE & D
Bag: Coach Penelope

So yesterday I mentioned that I was very excited to find a perfect pair of red flats. Well, I must have had red on the brain when I went out shopping at the local outlets that same day, because as soon as I went into the Coach Factory store my eyes lighted on a lovely red bag.

I've wanted a true red bag for a while now. I almost broke down and bought this one,
but I just couldn't bring myself to pay so much for such an impractical color. So I tabled the idea and just put my dream for a red bag on the back burner.

So how happy was I to find the Coach Penelope for a fraction of the cost?!? Other than the front pocket with the turn lock the bag is almost identical. Identical I tell you! It has two zipper pockets and the larger middle pocket has a snap closure. And I like the turnlock detail. It's a nice touch but a subtle one.

In my college years I was all about having the Coach bags that screamed COACH. You know? The fabric ones that have giant C's printed all over them? Yeah, kind of over that now. I still truly appreciate the quality of Coach bags though. They're very well made and seem to last forever. Seriously--  anybody want a few logo-ed up Coach bags circa 2002? I can't bring myself to get rid of them because they're still in such great condition.

Anyway, did I mention the deal I got on the Penelope bag? Lets just say it was originally more than J Crew's Biennial Satchel and I was still able to get it for under $100. I love Coach Factory! I'm not sure if Coach operates the same way other factory stores do-- making 'factory versions' of previous releases or if they just sell older styles from retail that they had in overstock. I think maybe it's a little of both? Either way, I'm super happy with my new red bag. It goes perfectly with the new red shoes too I mentioned yesterday.

  2. I bought the same Penelope bag in royal blue this past weekend! I love it! If they had a red one, I would have definitely gotten it! Let me know if you see another, I'd buy it in a heartbeat! :)

  3. ina- thanks! I've never worn red much, so this bag is making very easy to incorperate the color.

SC Crew- ohhhh! I bet the blue is gorgeous! If we get sick of our bags, maybe we should trade because I sure could use a pretty blue bag in my closet! :)
